On the evening of June 24, 1973, a disgruntled patron started a fire at the Upstairs Lounge in New Orleans killing 32 people. Due to the nature of the bar being gay, many of the bodies were not claimed by family members later being buried in Holt Cemetery in unmarked graves. Ferris LeBlanc was not claimed. This installation, consisting of collected cemetery flowers from Louisianna and a granite bench, honor the memory of this man. Inscription on the bench, “By the time you get here it will be too late.”
