The Park of Love is an ongoing exploration of the ways in which public art can unite people through shared emotions and experiences. It began in 2004, during a visit to Lima, Peru, where I encountered the remarkable installation by Peruvian artist Víctor Delfín. His Park of Love was a site for introspection, where love, in all its forms, was celebrated as both personal and collective.
This early encounter with Delfín’s work became the foundation for my Park of Love.
In 2012, I had the opportunity to bring the concept of The Park of Love to Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. At the National Center for Contemporary Art, I invited the local community to contribute to a series of banners that expressed their own reflections on love. The project culminated in an exhibition that resonated deeply with both participants and viewers, confirming the transformative power of public art in evoking collective emotion.
In 2025, I was honored to be invited by the Parque Intercultural team to bring The Park of Love to Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Through a series of public drawing events held in local parks and cultural centers, the public created 140 banners that expressed the diverse and universal nature of love. Working with the Vessica Gallery, LANDS Gallery, and the Cultural Center in Concepcion Chiquirichapa, we encouraged community members of all ages and backgrounds to participate, transforming the park into a space of shared experience and creative expression.
The Park of Love is a living, evolving dialogue between artist and community. Each banner serves as a voice in an ongoing conversation about the role of love in our lives, in our communities, and in our world. By bringing these messages of love into public spaces, I aim to create a sanctuary of reflection and connection, where the personal becomes universal, and the act of creation becomes a shared celebration of human emotion.
