10,000 Flowers for Willie Grimes is an installation honoring the memory of this NCAT student whose death brought international attention to the racial instability of Greensboro, North Carolina in 1969. Utilizing discarded graveyard flowers collected over 12 months from cemeteries in the southeastern USA, this «flower field», installed on a hillside in downtown Greensboro, North Carolina, is arranged in a traditional asymmetrical African quilt pattern.
